A prerequisite in order to apply to the department. LX I - Lamp Operator A prerequisite in order to apply to the department. Standard First Aid Two day(16 hours) First Aid courses are scheduled for Union members and permitees four or five times a year. Course includes level "C" CPR. Recommended by all departments. WHMIS - Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System An introduction to the legal responsibilities of suppliers, employers and workers handling hazardous materials. Recommended by all departments. Especially important for construction, make-up, paint, wardrobe and props. Health and Safety WHMIS Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System Training is available online for $29.95 (plus tax) Danatec WHMIS Training or www.virtualwhmis.com Costume Sewing Assessment Level 1 - This is a one hour and twenty minute sewing exam to test basic sewing skills. Passing this exam is also necessary to become a permit in the costume department. There are seven components to complete, which include both machine and hand sewing. A copy of this test is available at the IATSE office and in the costume permitee packages. Level II (Stitcher Advanced) - A four-hour practical exam for those wishing to apply to the costume department as stitchers. Set Etiquette & Protocol (For technical position opportunities - co-sponsored by IATSE Local 212 and Mount Royal College) Considering a career in film and television? This workshop, developed with industry unions and taught by experts, is a must. Be introduced to basic film vocabulary and important first-day etiquette. Discover what personal supplies may be needed, what questions to ask the dispatcher and how to fill out an employee start package. Instructors: Allan Belyea, William Hornecker.
